We're Not a Tour Company.
We're Kenyans Who Love Showing Off Home.
Fifteen years ago a Kenyan guide and a battered Land Cruiser sparked an idea. Today Solvo is a family of passionate guides, planners, and nature lovers with one purpose — giving you an Africa that feels entirely, wonderfully real.

“Africa doesn't give you what you expect. It gives you what you need. That's why we keep coming back — and why our guests do too.”
A Dusty Track, a Land Cruiser,
and a Dream.
It was 2008. A young Kenyan guide named Byron had spent years watching tourists rush through the Mara — ticking boxes, barely stopping, never truly seeing. He believed Africa deserved better storytellers. So he started Solvo with one vehicle, a phone that barely had signal, and an absolute refusal to do things the way everyone else did.
The name “Solvo” comes from the idea of untying — releasing yourself from the noise, the routine, the screen. Out here, there is only the grass, the sky, and whatever is about to walk over the ridge. That idea still drives everything we do.
Today we are a team of guides, planners, and field experts — all Kenyan, all rooted in this land. We have guided honeymooners who became best friends with our drivers. We have watched first-time safari guests cry at their first lion sighting. We have stayed up past midnight swapping stories around a camp fire with guests who were strangers that morning. That is the Solvo experience.

What a Solvo Safari Actually Looks Like
The brochure version is beautiful. Here is the real version — and honestly, it's better.

The Pre-Dawn Briefing
Your guide is already awake. Coffee is ready. Before the sun has cleared the horizon he has already checked yesterday's animal sightings with neighbouring camps, mapped the morning drive, and packed snacks for wherever the animals might lead.

The Moment You Stand Up
Roof hatch open. Wind in your face. A cheetah on a termite mound 40 metres ahead. Nobody says a word. Your guide kills the engine and lets the silence do what no words ever could. This is the moment every Solvo guest remembers for the rest of their life.

The Stories Around Sundowners
We stop wherever the light is best. Your guide pours cold drinks and tells you about the warrior culture of the Maasai, the migration patterns of the wildebeest, and — if you ask nicely — the story of the time a hippo charged the old Land Cruiser. Some experiences simply cannot be booked.
The Humans Behind
Every Safari
Our guides don't clock in and out. They live this. Each one chosen not just for credentials, but for the kind of person they are around a campfire.
Between our guides, we speak your language
Let us know your preferred language when requesting a quote — we'll match you with the right guide.
We Don't Talk About Conservation
From a Boardroom.
Our guides grew up next to these parks. Their fathers guided here. Their children will too — but only if the wildlife and land are still here for them. That's not a mission statement. That's personal.

Schools & Clean Water
A percentage of every safari sold goes directly into the villages we visit — school supplies, borehole repairs, and teacher salaries in communities that have given us so much.

Anti-Poaching Support
We fund rangers on the ground. People who walk the bush at night so that the animals are still there in the morning. No glamour, no headlines — just the work that matters.

Low-Impact Operations
Plastic-free vehicles. Solar-powered camps where possible. We are not perfect — but we are genuinely trying, and we hold our lodge partners to the same standard.

We Do Things Differently
Slow Down, See More
We limit group sizes and take the scenic back-routes through the bush. Some of our most memorable guest moments happen off the main circuit, away from the crowds, watching something that is never on any itinerary.
Your Guide Is Your Host
In Kenyan culture, a guest is a gift. Our guides don't just point at animals — they share stories, explain traditions, and make you feel like family by day two. The relationship outlasts the safari.
Flexible, Always
No fixed departure times. No rushed itineraries. If the lions are active at the waterhole, we stay until you have had your fill. Your experience drives every decision — not the other way around.
